Server unavailable error.

One of the most common problems you face whenever you log into AX is "Server unavailable. Check your configuration and Network connection and try again"

This is because the ax service has stopped. Just start the service once again and AX will work fine.

Once more which you see is Application Object Server is unavailable.  This is either your server is shut down or server has stopped.

Explanation :
AX is basically a domain based software. There will be a common server to all the client machines. So once your client machine is installed with AX, next you have to configure it to particular server. To do that, run Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 configuration, Connection Tab and Add button, enter the server name, TCP/IP port number and configure it to the server. You can also create your configuration or Add configuration file from Manage button. click apply and the your client machine will work fine.

Introduction to ERP and ISV

Hi All, i am arunraj rajasekar,  technical consultant. Before we start with development, i like to share my understanding on ERP and Microsoft Dynamics products.

What is ERP?
Enterprise Resource Planning - the process of integrating all the business activities together. ERP software systematizes all the business activities by which we can keep track of records, reduces the paper work and plan our activities to utilize the resources(Machine, Money, Man, Method, Material) to the maximum.
Every Organization consist of various department and different Business unit. Each department have their own operations and functions. But one way or the other, they are interconnected with one another. This is where ERP comes into picture. ERP interconnects all the departments together based on their process and reduces miscommunication.
To give a real time example, consider a small manufacturing company. There will be production unit, finance department, human resource, warehouse, sales, marketing and marketing, etc.
Now the annual budgeting will be planned by the top level management members. Production head will raise a request for the resources. Finance team will approve this request and forward it to HR department. And with the available resources, the production team will manufactures the goods and store it in the warehouse. From the warehouse the goods will be supplied to the customers. All these process are centralized to an ERP software.
Microsoft being a market dominant in both PC compatible operating system and office software suite, gives your people the tools they need to connect and manage your entire business, from financial and supply chain management and from manufacturing to operations, with the insight you need to make smart decisions.

What is the Role of ISV?
Microsoft has designed a standard ERP software which meets most of the business requirements. But still each business/ organization is unique on its own. Consider two manufacturing companies producing same product. Though they produce same products and located in same location, they have their own business process which differ from one another. The ERP softwares must fullfill these business process in order to obtain maximum ROI. Hence consultants from these independent software vendors, customize the standard ERP software and provide it to their customers.
